EAST VAN VODKA & CRÉME de CASSIS REVIEW – Yesterday I stopped in at ODD SOCIETY DISTILLERY here in Vancouver, it was one of those days. Just happened to be a Friday afternoon on a beautiful sunny day but it wasn’t that, and there I was driving by. Perfect!
Its a small artisan distillery, the location itself has a very funky vibe, really cool and down to earth but unique in so many ways. I sat down and was offered a taste of their East Van Vodka and Créme de Cassis. Now not being a vodka drinker unless it accompanies some sort of juice minus the little umbrella, I didn’t know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the smoothness of the vodka, not overly powerful which I welcomed but excellent. If you enjoy your vodka, you need to try theirs.
Now the Créne de Cassis on the other hand was right up my alley and after tasting it I wanted more. Even just with a straw I would have been happy but that would just be wrong so I opted for a bottle to take home. Perfectly sweet, full flavor of summer grown currents. Juicy and delicious. It reminded me of a fruity port, it is a cassis after all so maybe I’m over thinking the explanation. It was spectaular!
It also got my spider senses tingling with what I could make with it in chocolate. So many thoughts ran through my head with combinations it was spectacular.
That will definitely be the next test kitchen experiment.
This week they are releasing their first gin, which makes me really happy as a gin lover. If it’s anything as good as both the Vodka and Créme de cassis we’re in for a treat!
If you get the chance to stop by it is well worth it. Check them out twitter @oddspirits or online at www.oddsocietyspirits.com to find out about their spirits, the gin release and what’s next on the horizon. Enjoy your Saturday! Cheers
